Pci-express upgrade?

hi

looking at upgrading my wifes pci-express based p.c(2.8ghz dual core pentium D ,1GB ddr2 ram(667mhz),2 x 160g sata drives)

i have seen the Sapphire ATi Radeon X1650 PRO 256MB(http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Component... this has some decent specs(600mhz core,1400mhz memory speed)

has anyone used this card and how does it compare to the onboard radeon xpress 1250 which it currently uses

any views will be appreciated

cheers !

Pci-express upgrade?
i read a review of this card in micro mart i think. they gave it the best review for a card for £30. as you say, the specs are decent and if you get the 512mb version this will be a big improment from the 1250. my sisters got that in her laptop and to be fair its not bad, plays sims 2 on max setings but cant handle 3D games too well.
Reply:Your link doesn't work...

I've never used the X1650, though I have used the onboard 1250. The X1650 should blow it out of the water though, according to benchmarks anyway. The X1650 is two generations old now, you should be able to get a 3450/3650/3850 for not a lot more, and that will be a massive improvement.

Edit - just checked the prices of the X1650, that's a bargain! Unless you are happy spending a fair bit more (£50 min), I would go for it.

i not big fan of ATIs cards, but this one really good value for money and performance, although i have not used any ATI cards in the past, i believe the x1650pro is alot better then xpress 1250, if you were to benchmark them both and compare results.

also onboard graphic gpu are normally very weak comparing to card running on pci-e.

good luck
