Do you think the U.S. is too p.c.?

Are you too far over in p.c. land to be able to express our opinion? (not stating an opinion, not sure). Why or why not?

Do you think the U.S. is too p.c.?
Yes, I think so. Sometimes people are very careful about being politically correct, I'm just wondering where is the free speech? WTF, I don't care about p.c. Too much!!!
Reply:I LIKE MY PC ITS FINE THANK U .......U LOT ON THIS PAGE SEEM VERY BRAINY
Reply:I dont know about the us but I think that political correctness is quite evil. it keeps people from speaking out about things that are not right. 50, 60 70, 80 years ago people never spoke up about things. It was "kept" in the family, "behind closed doors" " people dont discuss their business". As a result a lot of injustices occurred - child abuse, domestic violence, beatings, incest - now they go on today but people speak out where as back 50 years ago it was considered "impolite" to say anything. Now I think that political correctness is a throwback on a larger scale to that - we are now not allowed to say anything that might be offensive or make others think before they act. we use words like "self determization" to deter people from saying something is not right and pointing out why its wrong. We hide behind phrases such as "its the individuals choice" when choice and individuality had nothing to do with it.The whole political correctness thing is realy a ploy to not acknowledge when something is occurring that is not ok - and thats that. I think if you have an oppinion say it, they dont shoot people at dawn anymore so just say what you think and dont get sucked into the political correctness scam. Political correctness is a social control.
Reply:Yes
Reply:Yes, too P.C. As a U.S. citizen, I think that while the people behind the P.C. movement might have good intentions, it's really just another version of censorship and mind control. The whole idea is inherently at odds with notions of free speech which is supposedly a cornerstone of democracy. I think all attempts to limit what people can talk about, or to create 'correct' and 'incorrect' views are damaging to a democratic society.

There are a lot of problems in the U.S. that have to be dealt with, racial problems between blacks and whites being a major one. I think the only hope of finding some kind of working solution will come if people are able to examine and address these problems in a frank and honest way. That's never going to happen if, for example, people are afraid to criticise failure of black leaders because that kind of criticism would automatically mark one as being a racist and a P.C. thought criminal.
Reply:Too personal computer? Too Politically Correct? Neither, I think were much better off when we have to work at figuring out how best to curse someone out, or figuring out if someone has cursed us out. Even Jesus teaches that traditionalists miss the point.
Reply:people are too easily offended, but if you unintentionally offend someone its your responsibility.walking on eggshells is annoying
Reply:I think the whole of the western world is toooooo pc and i am on a mission to stamp it out

Happy days
Reply:HELL YES.
Reply:yes. why? because we are afraid of getting sued or beat up/on verbally or even physically, socially shunned, lose employment, etc...there are alot of serious negative repercussions for those that aren't politically correct...freedom of speech in the United States does have its limitations...
