Is this the ultimate in left-wing P.C. hoolabaloo?

Well, first off, you're using loaded terms - I wouldn't describe my beliefs as "welfare state," "radical" feminism, or "P.C. attitudes" (though if you catch me in the right mood, I might admit to dabbling in a little socialism now and again), but I understand why you might use those terms - they are diametrically opposed to your beliefs, so you see them in a negative light.

But, to answer your question without getting into complicated redefinitions, or lengthy explainations of political and economic theory, we believe what we believe because they express our philosophies and desires for the kind of society we want to live in. Much as yours express your philosophies and desires, but would be unliveable for me.

Does that help?

Is this the ultimate in left-wing P.C. hoolabaloo?
If you want to answer somebody's question, ANSWER THEIR QUESTION!!!!!!

It's not rocket science.
Reply:I don't understand what you are asking.

But I think , and I mean think, you are saying that you feel that people on this forum are "PC" and "liberal" and "left wing" and that you feel you have a different opinion which should be respected.

Well, since right wing and human respect do not go together in any way I will take your comments with a grain of salt.

If you mean what you say, then ignore anything that does not "ditto" what you feel.

Or do what right wing people do best: find a way to get other people who feel like you to get the "PC" and "left wing" people off of Yahoo! Answers.

We will be waiting.

. In this question, a, b and θ are all real numbers.

(a) Express cos θ in terms of e^iθ and e^-iθ. By taking

θ =a – b/2

;

deduce that

e^ia + e^ib = 2e^i(a+b)/2 cos (a – b/2)

(b) Hence show that

Ae^i(ωt+θ1) + Ae^i(ωt+θ2) = 2Ae^i(ωt+Ф1) cos Ф2;

where A, ω, θ1 and θ2 are all real and

Ф1 =θ1 + θ2/2

and Ф2 =

θ1 - θ2/2

:

(c) At time t, I1(t) = Asin(ωt + θ1) and I2(t) = Asin(ωt + θ2) are alternating currents

connected in parallel in a circuit. The load current at time t is given by the relation

IL(t) = I1(t) + I2(t):

Use equation (1) to show that

IL(t) = 2Acos Ф2 sin(ωt + Ф1):

haha, I'm not doing your homework for you!

By any chance are you doing your first year of an engineering or mathematical based degree? As I remember such horrors very fondly. Perhaps a suitable maths text book will help you more with the mathematical processes you need to know than just a derivation of the answer that you probably won't understand if you're asking here. I use KA Strouds Engineering Mathematics and also the Advanced Engineering Mathematics text book too. Good luck.

Scheduled c-section and breastfeeding?

i am having a scheduled c-section and was wondering does it take longer for the milk to come in?

with my first child i was able to express milk at 18 weeks pregnant so i had no trouble with breastfeeding him ....but this pregnancy i have had only had slight leakage will this affect it?

Scheduled c-section and breastfeeding?
When I was pregnant I only had a tiny bit of leakage... my colostrum came in normal.. and my milk came in too. In fact I was SUPER engorged on the 4th or 5th day. I had attempted to nurse every hour at the hospital.. I was so engorged that nothing helped and I was so swollen and unable to get milk to come out of my breasts.. I guess you didn't need that much info.
Reply:after d c section, your body might hurt too much for you to hold your baby properly to nurse . so have a nurse or your husband incline your bed to a tolerable level, then hold d baby in place beside your breast, prop your arms on lots of pillows and baby can eat :-) this s what i did after my c section

even if u dont have milk yet, that's no prob. it's baby's sucking that will signal your body to produce milk. don't worry baby will not starve. he'll till have leftover nutrients from you, and his tummy is really tiny. he won't need but a few drops d first couple of days. my own milk did not come out til day after birth.

remember-- sucking induces production
Reply:Since you've already breastfed one child it's rare that you would have issues breast feeding for the next, even if it is a c-section. If you are worried though just start pumping a couple days before the c-section. You can store what you do get and give it to your baby as soon as he/she is born, that way they will get the colostrum that comes out first.
Reply:I had my first by scheduled c-section and it did take a couple of days for my milk to come in properly...I had the colostrum right away, but my son was about 3 days old before my actual milk was there.
Reply:It might take a bit to come in. But start pumping! As soon as you are out of the recovery room, put the baby on the breast frequently so he/she get the reflex going, and pump in between. Most hospitals will leave you a pump ready to go and a lactation consultant at hand for any help you might need. The key is perseverance.
Reply:NO NO NO Dont worry Dear I started to leak alittle bit of milk at 32 weeks pregnant and nothing before this......I had my baby by C-Section and started to breastfeed her as soon as I could and she 14 weeks old now and has never had a drop of formula
Reply:I had an emergency C-section with my twins and it took about two days for my milk to come in. I started pumping as soon as possible after the surgery, and every three hours. It was frustrating at first because I got nothing! But then finally it came in. Just keep trying as much as you can, if the baby can get to the breast versus pumping that will help your letdown as well. Good luck!!!
Reply:You should have colostrum now, though it may be impossible to pump or express any.

As soon as the placenta is removed certain hormonal changes take place which signal the body to switch over to milk production. However this change is GRADUAL. It isn't like one feed you have colostrum and one you have "milk". The changeover starts about 30-40 horus after birth. Most women experience engorgement which is commonly called her "milk coming in" about 2-3 days after birth. Some women say they have colostrum up to 5 days after birth.

As someone who had to pump immediately after birth and for the first month following a normal fullterm birth (long stupid story involving breastfeeding, pumping, syringe feeding etc). I will say that the true "blue-white" milk may not be there until week 2-3. Before that the milk is still varying degrees of yellow.
Reply:I don't think it takes longer. I had a c-section last November and my milk came in two days after my daughter was born.
Reply:Probably not. You shouldn't express milk while you are pregnant or attempt to because there is a possibility it can trigger preterm contractions. If its your second child and especially since you breastfed before, you will probably have your milk within 48hrs following childbirth, regardless of the c-section. It may be a little longer, but it should still come and and remember that a baby needs just a few drop per feed for the first couple of days anyway :)
Reply:I had an unexpected C-section without any laboring, so my milk took about 4-5 days to fully come in. I nursed around the clock from the moment I held my daughter, and my engorgement wasn't painful, although my breasts did definitely swell up!! My breasts are large already and they were SO oddly perky and hard, I looked like Pamela Anderson! So funny.

It shouldn't be a problem if you nurse very often to stimulate that milk production. :) It is true though, that it takes a bit longer for milk to come in with a C-section or induction, since your body doesn't get the chance to go into labor slowly and naturally (which tells your breasts to start the milk production!).

Good luck!
Reply:With my second I had no leakage ( my first I did ) and I breastfeed so that part doesn't matter. Make sure that the Dr's know you want to breastfeed so they can bring baby to you as soon as they can and not give any bottles. I don't actually know if it takes longer for you milk to come in but I know many c-section breastfeeding Mommies

Women have more freedom....in ways, emotional that men wish they could express...not that were uncapable but.?

because as guys we have to secure out masuclinity, but in that we condem our selves

men walk a tight rope...too masculine=jerk...but if we open up...were=gay or feminine

men have emotions..but we learn that is un man like to express them...I'm not promoting hand holding..damn no...WE ARE MEN...

though

for example I like Shinade O' Connor "nothing compares to you"

but I would never let anyone know...b/c it would seem to soft

and regardless of your supporting girlfriends opinion for being sensitive an opening up ...men are never supposed to be the sensitve ones...only when it suits the moment

and we know this....we know this big time

so next time you think..."guys...so shallow and unsensitive...think of the conditioning and self questioning we have"

we can be gay and win your appraise but be ostisized and labled gay ( unattractive to women) if we expressed out deepest emotions....so we hide them..and some men to the extent of being hyper masculine?

Women have more freedom....in ways, emotional that men wish they could express...not that were uncapable but.?
Yes I think you are on to something with men being squeesed by social expectations of their roles and how they "should" act. I think women can be more flexible that way.

But personally I suggest that you be yourself and be how ever the hell you want to. Forget what other people's approval. What's more important their good opinion of you or your own freedom?

btw..I have to disagree with you on that one comment .. I Don't like boy bands and believe me I am soo Not eewww at the naked body male or female. Don't generalise like that if you please.
Reply:I think men need a kind of male liberation. I agree with what you are saying. Men and women aren't different, but because of female liberation if we want to be girly or a housewife, that's fine, or if we want to be a tomboy car mechanic that's fine too!

Men need this aswell, so that if they don't like sport that's ok! If they like romance films, that's ok too!

All the women I meet don't have a problem with men showing their feminine traits, it's the other men that are the problem.

Feminine and masculine traits are only what society has labelled. We are all individuals with different personality traits. This is how my husband and I live, and we are very happy.

There's the saying 'Why are all the great men gay?!' and I know this is kind of a light hearted thing, but I admire gay men or camp men because they are strong and confident enough to say 'this is who I am, yes I have some 'feminine' personality traits, this is me!!'

EDIT: I just read all your additional details and you've let yourself down. You are just being sexist about how women mess up and cause the resteraints. It's the other men that are causing the restraints. I agreed with you at first, but by your extra comments you obviously have an issue with women thinking we are the ones stopping you from showing emotions and we mess up more than men...you've let yourself down. You just seem like a sexist male chauvenist now.
Reply:You have a point (if oddly expressed). An open man seems to be only in films these days, he would be laughed at in reality. Who's to blame? I don't know.
Reply:I love that song too and I'm sorry you have it so tough.
Reply:blah blah blah women are superior blah blah blah.
Reply:who are you trying to convince you or us????You have major problems I guess...you must have been with the wrong women or girls....you better not start on women in here...that might be your worst mistake....
Reply:I think men who express their emotions are attractive. I don't want to be with a guy who bottles things up, because I know that if he does this, those emotions are going to come out in either a self-destructive way or in a way that's harmful to someone else. I find that men who are able to express their emotions are more emotionally and psychologically healthy and secure...and I find that to be a very good thing.
Reply:I don't like the idea of men crying. I know I've choked up at times in my life, but never over silly crap. The idea of men displaying emotion the way wome display it, well do what you want, but I'd view the guy as a pansy.

Also, some women say they want a man to cry, but they still lose respect for him when he does.

Look what crying did for Hillary!
Reply:I understand where you're coming from. And men are taught not to cry or show emotion. But you must realize that it wasn't women who did this to you guys. YOU meaning men, did it to yourselves. A woman can sympathize with a man that breaks down or shows emotion, because we're emotional creatures by nature. I've even had close Friends who are men get choked up around me when talking about marriage, family, careers and emotional scares. And they didn't not want to show any motion when talking about it. But I had to remind them that they are human, and that it's ok to cry or let it out. You feel so much better when you get things off your chest verses bottling it up in side. But the masculinity issue is someting that man in general has cursed himself with. That's not our fault. You should try listening to Bishop T.D. Jake's "Hemotions" cd. It's really good. And I'm sure what ever you're going through right now, it will help you deal with.
Reply:You can say we have more freedom, but have you noticed the crap we take when we express these same emotions you're talking about?

Anyone, regardless of ethnicity, age, or gender, is going to take crap when they express REAL emotion. Listen, you have to do it anyway. If you've got the emotion, express it because if you don't, you're going to suffer internally. Better to suffer on the outside than on the inside, I always say.
Reply:I think it is fine when men are able to open up about their feelings. I don't expect my hubs or son to hold it all in and never speak a word of it. That's not fair. But it also seems like guys just naturally aren't as emotionally open as women are. Whether that is an inborn thing or a societal expectation, I have no idea. I think it is a bit of both. But I don't think that guys are insensitive or shallow for being all macho and tough. They are human, they can feel. Just as I wouldn't expect or force a man to hold it in all the time, neither would I expect or encourage him to let it all out and wear his heart on his sleeve if he's not comfortable doing so (I'm not comfortable doing that either....I am a private kind of gal).

I think it is fine when women open up about their feelings....but I get pretty annoyed by overly emotional women. You know, the ones who snivel and cry over every little slight and upset, the ones who make decisions based on "I feel" rather than "I think"....yeah. I don't like that either. Blech. It gets really old, really fast.

I think it is healthy when people, male or female, are comfortable with their emotions and aren't ashamed to shed tears when they have a good reason to be shed. But when people are obsessive about their feelings, or are led around by emotion rather than ration, that's not so healthy.
Reply:I don't think many women have any problem at all with men showing emotion. In fact I'd bet the majority of women raise higher concerns when men act as though they are emotionally dead. In short, I don't know where "society" got the idea that men should always be emotionally detached.

Showing emotion is healthy, and emotion in it's self does not denote any specific gender connotation. So it is a big shame that society views men showing emotion as being a bad thing.
Reply:It is perhaps true that men tend to be looked down upon for expressing certain emotions. Sadness is one of them. However, I believe this to be a context specific behavior. If a man cries at every little thing, then he will be viewed as weak. If a man cries at the death of his mother/father/sister/brother/etc. then this will not be the case anymore (I've seen this happen more than once and none of the men who did so were labeled "gay"). So I don't think it is always the case that men are somehow supposed to suppress their emotions rather that it depends upon the situation at hand. The idea that society wants men to be Stoic is a rather broad statement which doesn't get at the most important aspect of every situation: the context under which the behavior occurs. Besides there are, in some cases, times when one probably shouldn't express one's feelings. For example, when you hate your boss so much that you could literally commit homicide because of your anger. Expressing feelings in that situation are likely to land you in jail. Same goes, again, for when you receive a gift which you really didn't want and can't use for Christmas. Do you simply tell the person "what a waste of money" or do you accept it graciously upholding the ideal of "it's the thought that counts? One will keep the relationship going whereas the other will probably aid in the destruction of it. I believe that, in some ways men having better control over emoting is a good thing. A man won't explode (called catharsis in psychology) if he keeps it all in rather he may just come to terms with situations he can't change and by so doing live a longer and more mentally stable life.
Reply:I agree.

Men are socially conditioned to repress feelings, as not to appear weak and emotionally needy.

Its very unfortunate in that it creates a disconnect between the sexes.

Women complain that men are not emotional enough...and men complain that women talk to much and are too emotional.

I am forever trying to get men to drop the societal BS, open up and be free to express themselves...
Reply:I agree. It's very sad to see guys suppressing their true natures in an effort to abide by standards of masculinity. We should all just be honest with ourselves.
Reply:Men are more free to show anger and aggression than women are. If a man shows those emotions, he's being manly. However, if a woman shows those same emotions, she's often seen as being a ***** or a shrew.
Reply:because guys have higher pride!! and trust me.. it'll swallow you soon...

Need c++ logic which calls a mailing program when a service fails!!!!?

I have written a c++ code to monitor a JDE service… and it should trigger a mailing tool to send a mail automatically when the service fails. This is wat my tool has to do…..

We used a API called MAPI which is dependent on outlook so we have to configure outlook express which is not advisable.!!

So I got to remove the dependency on the mail client so for tat I should write a mailing logic an I should provide a user with

INI settings so that user ll have the flexibility to change username, password along with service name and smtp server name also… ie user can change these info as per his requirements.

And validation of the password is also a requirement.

So any of you geniuses out there got a sloution for my query.

Need c++ logic which calls a mailing program when a service fails!!!!?

alternatively consider consulting a C++ expert. Check http://k.aplis.net/

How to delete additional identity created in outlook express where password has been forgotten?

I added one more identity in outlook express in my wfes name. After some time i had forgotten the password and hence i am not able to delete it. Why have an item in P C which could not be used?

How to delete additional identity created in outlook express where password has been forgotten?
Find and Delete the .pst

but this will loose all the email
Reply:Unless you know the password, you cannot delete the identity, you can make a new one, however (without a password) and start over, though:

File -%26gt; Identities -%26gt; Manage Identities -%26gt; Add

Name the new identitiy, switch to the new one, and reenter the email information...

The only way to get rid of the password protected identity is the following:

1. restore your computer to an earlier time, before you added it

2. reinstall OE (microsoft website for more info)

3. remember the password - you can try as many times as you want.

You're very limited when you cannot remember the password... hope that helps.
Reply:as far as i know youc an contact microsoft for a password retrevial program

I have another question about Microsoft's Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition?

What .NET Framework do I need in order to run my Web Browser Program I made with Microsoft's Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition...

a. MS .Net Framework 1.1 (x86)

b. MS .Net Framework 3.0 (x86)

c. MS .Net Framework 2.0 (x86)

d. Other MS .Net Framework

What about if I have Vista, and wanted to run my program on a Vista Machine, would my program work on Vista...?

What .Net Framework do I need in order to run my program on Vista...?

.NET 2.0 (x64)....?

Thanx

I have another question about Microsoft's Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition?
What Framework did you compile your program against? (Pauses.......) You just answered your own question. Did you actually just create a "Web Browser Program" with the Express Edition of VB 2008? I'm not sure what that means since you would use Visual Web Developer 2008 Express to create ASP .NET applications.....but if you did, then checking the property pages of your project would help. I'm sure the 2008 Express Editions has Framework targeting, so you can install against any of the .NET Frameworks you have installed.

If you are running Vista, you have 2.0 and 3.0 installed already. This page might help you with some other questions you may still have:

http://reportviewer.biz/dotnetframework....
Reply:Vista comes by default with .NET3.0, but it's better if you install .NET3.5

If you installed your visual basc 2008 , then you already have 3.5 cause that's how it works. Just target you application to 3.5, it's latest and has really good options with it

C++ Boolean question..Will you help me =( ?

Yah as you can guess its a homework...i tried alot and i have no idea ... it must be done today ..

Any solves or hints will be so appreciated,here's the question:

--------------------------------------...

De Morgan’s Laws can sometimes make it more convenient for us to express a logical expression.

These laws state that the expression !(condition1 %26amp;%26amp; condition2) is logically equivalent to the

expression (!condition1 || !condition2). Also, the expression !(condition1 || condition2) is logically

equivalent to the expression (!condition1 %26amp;%26amp; !condition2). Use De Morgan’s Laws to write

equivalent expressions for each of the following, then write a program to show that both the

original expression and the new expression in each case are equivalent:

A. !( x %26lt; 5 ) %26amp;%26amp; !( y %26gt;= 7 )

B. !( a == b ) || !( g != 5 )

C. !( ( x %26lt;= 8 ) %26amp;%26amp; ( y %26gt; 4 ) )

D. !( ( i %26gt; 4 ) || ( j %26lt;= 6 ) )

--------------------------------------...

Thanks .

C++ Boolean question..Will you help me =( ?
A. !( x %26lt; 5 ) %26amp;%26amp; !( y %26gt;= 7 )

This is of the form (!condition1 %26amp;%26amp; !condition2), which according to the second law you state, is the same as !( condition1 || condition2 ), or in this case, !( x %26lt; 5 || y %26gt;= 7 ).

Your c++ code could look something like this:

int x,y;

x = 1; //pick any two numbers

y = 2;

bool result1, result2;

result1 = !( x %26lt; 5 ) %26amp;%26amp; !( y %26gt;= 7 );

result2 = !( x %26lt; 5 || y %26gt;= 7 );

cout %26lt;%26lt; "!( x %26lt; 5 ) %26amp;%26amp; !( y %26gt;= 7 ) is" %26lt;%26lt; result1 %26lt;%26lt; endl;

cout %26lt;%26lt; "!( x %26lt; 5 || y %26gt;= 7 ) is" %26lt;%26lt; result2 %26lt;%26lt; endl;

B. !( a == b ) || !( g != 5 )

Looks like (!cond1 || !cond2), which is equivalent to !(cond1 %26amp;%26amp; cond2).

C. !( ( x %26lt;= 8 ) %26amp;%26amp; ( y %26gt; 4 ) )

!(cond1 %26amp;%26amp; cond2) -%26gt; (!cond1 || !cond2)

D. !( ( i %26gt; 4 ) || ( j %26lt;= 6 ) )

!(cond1 || cond2) -%26gt; (!cond1 %26amp;%26amp; !cond2)

Hopefully that gives you enough of a start to fill in the rest of it.
Reply:These are all REALLY easy applications of DeMorgan's law. They're stated exactly in the format that the law is stated in. For example, if we have this expression:

!(x %26gt;= 10) %26amp;%26amp; !(y %26lt; 2)

we can use the second form of DeMorgan's law you've given in your question to turn this into:

!((x %26gt;= 10) || (y %26lt; 2))

If we have the opposite situation, that is, we're given an expression with a "not" operator outside the entire expression, we just "not" the terms and change the operator. So:

!((x %26gt; 6) %26amp;%26amp; (y %26lt;= 10))

becomes

!(x %26gt; 6) || !(y %26lt;= 10)

That will solve all four of the problems in about 30 seconds.

A program to test these expressions is a little tougher but the idea would be to set x and y to values that alternately make the terms in the expressions true or false then verify that "if" statements containing both your form and the original form of the expression evaluate the same. So for example:

int x = 1;

int y = 11;

if ((!((x %26gt; 6) %26amp;%26amp; (y %26lt;= 10))) != (!(x %26gt; 6) || !(y %26lt;= 10)))

printf("Failed with x = %d and y = %d\n", x, y);

x = 7;

if ((!((x %26gt; 6) %26amp;%26amp; (y %26lt;= 10))) != (!(x %26gt; 6) || !(y %26lt;= 10)))

printf("Failed with x = %d and y = %d\n", x, y);

x = 1;

y = 9;

if ((!((x %26gt; 6) %26amp;%26amp; (y %26lt;= 10))) != (!(x %26gt; 6) || !(y %26lt;= 10)))

printf("Failed with x = %d and y = %d\n", x, y);

x = 7;

if ((!((x %26gt; 6) %26amp;%26amp; (y %26lt;= 10))) != (!(x %26gt; 6) || !(y %26lt;= 10)))

printf("Failed with x = %d and y = %d\n", x, y);

As you can see we've chosen values of x and y in each case to test every combination of the terms being true and false. If the program runs without generating any error messages, your expressions are equivalent.

Good luck.

Problem Burning AVI to DVD with NERO VISION EXPRESS??????

I've been using DVD Shrink with Nero to burn DVD's for a long time, always works wonderful.

But yesterday I downloaded an AVI DVD Rip, watched it on my computer and everything was perfect quality and sound.

I used Nero Vision Express [for the first time] to transcode the file from AVI to VOB so that it would burn to my DVD+R disc, and it DID.

However- a few problems occured:

A] there was a small layer at the bottom of the picture that was fuzzy the entire movie.

B] the audio was out of sync with the picture by about 1/2 of a second the entire movie.

C] the "skip forward a scene" and "rewind back a scene" options didnt work, as if the movie was all one big scene.

do you know what went wrong??

best answer WILL get the best answer, thanks.

Problem Burning AVI to DVD with NERO VISION EXPRESS??????
I have not had that exact problem, but I have had problems burning some AVI files with NeroVision. The problem seems to be related to codecs. I tried a number of codec packages but was unable to find one that was perfect for my needs. I eventually switched to Roxio MyDVD which has less options than Nero, but burns a perfectly viewable DVD every time.

C:\windows\temporary.bmp not found?

Why do I get a message C:\windows\temporary.bmp was not found when I open my email with a picture attached? I am using Outlook Express.

C:\windows\temporary.bmp not found?
The picture that was supposed to be attached is probably not at the location that the path leads it to and it's telling you that it looked in your C drive / Windows folder / and the file called temporary.bmp was not there. The sender might have not sent it correctly or it was not downloaded correctly to your PC.

I have been learning simple codes from readoing "Complete idiot's Guide to C++" All my codes work in MiniGW Developers (IDE). I said why not learn to do it in visual 2005 express as well so I put in the code and it does work.Here's my code just simple.

#include %26lt;iostream.h%26gt;

main(){

int a;

for(a = -10; a %26lt; 10;a++){

cout %26lt;%26lt; a %26lt;%26lt; endl;

}

return 0;

}

C++ in visual?
Did you read the error message??? They aren't put there for fun. They're put there to tell you what's wrong.

You generated a default C++ Console App project using Visual Studio. Your project has a precompiled header in it. But your code doesn't have a precompiled header directive. Hence the error.

Remove the precompiled header from your project. Remove all of the other extraneous stuff that you are not using. Turn off creation of the precompiled header.

Remove all references. You aren't using any.

Remove AssemblyInfo.cpp. You aren't using it.

Remove stdafx.cpp

Remove stdafx.h

Remove resource.h

Remove app.rc

Remove app.ico

Now turn off precompiled header creation. Open the properties of your project. Go to C/C++-%26gt;Precompiled headers-%26gt;Create/Use Precompiled headers.

Select "Not using Precompiled headers."

Now you no longer need a precompiled header diretcive, so you won't get the error that you don't have one.
Reply:(L)

yes c++ is visual.
Reply:in visual studio 2005 make sure you are creating a new win32 console application. i would make the code look a lil different as follows:

#include %26lt;iostream%26gt;

using namespace std;

void main(){

int a;

for(a= -10; a %26lt; 10; a++){

cout%26lt;%26lt;a%26lt;%26lt;endl;

}

}

Q6-------------The avg. speed of Howarh express inclusive of various halts at .................?

Q6-------------The avg. speed of Howarh express inclusive of various halts at stationsis 60kmph.However ,if do not take the time of halts into consideration ,the speed is 72kmph.what is avg. spopage time per hour of journey.

a.1/3 of hour

b.1/4 of hour

c.1/6 of hour

d.1/5 of hour

Q6-------------The avg. speed of Howarh express inclusive of various halts at .................?
The right answer is c

Originally the train in train travels @ 72kmph

hence for travelling 60 km it will take a time of 1*60/72 hrs or 5/6hrs.

The train's average speed being 60 km,its haltage time at various stations must be (1-5/6) or 1/6 hr. for each hour of run.
Reply:an alternative solution:

assume the distance to be 360km (gcm of 72 %26amp; 60)

it takes 5 hours without stops and 6 hours with stops...so in 6 hours, there is one hour of stop... or 1/6 hr/hr

How do I solve this and then express the sum and the product of the roots?

The question says: Solve the following equation. Then express the sum and the product of the roots to check your solutions.

x^2+6x-7=0

a) x=1; x= -7

sum = 6; prod= -7

b) x= -1; x= 7

sum = -6; prod= -7

c) x=1; x= -7

sum = -6; prod= -7

d) x=1; x= 7

sum =8; prod=7

How do I solve this and then express the sum and the product of the roots?
You need not do any calculations seperately for finding the sum and product

of the roots.

The coefficient of x with opposite sign is the sum of the roots and "c" with the same sign is the product of the roots in case of a quadratic equation ax^2+bx+c=0,when a=1

x^2+6x-7=0

=%26gt;(x-1)(x+7)=0

the roots of x are 1 and -7.OK?

Now look at the original equation.The coefficient of x is +6.Therefore,the sum of the roots must be -6.Check it up

Again look at the original equation.The "C" in our equation is -7.So -7 must be the product of the roots.Check it up and be happy.
Reply:Given a second order equation, if it has roots, of a general form ax^2+bx+c=0, always x1+x2=b/a and x1*x2= -c/a.
Reply:x^2 + 6x - 7 = 0

x^2 + 7x - x - 7 = 0

x (x + 7) - 1 (x + 7) = 0

( x + 7) (x - 1) = 0

x = - 7 or x = 1

Sum -%26gt; -6

Product -%26gt; -7

ie Option C
Reply:The easiest way to solve this would be the quadratic formula:

If ax^2 + bx + c = 0

then x = (-b +/- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac))/2a

(sqrt = square root)

This will give you two roots (one each for the +/- square root) if (b^2 - 4ac) is positive, which in this case it is. Then just add the two roots together to get the sum, and multiply them together to get the product.

Alternatively, you could factor the equation to get (x + p)(x + q) = 0, where p and q are numbers. Then your roots would be x = -p and x = -q (in other words, the values of x that could make the equation equal 0).

Can i dual boot my XP with the free express upgrade to vista or do i need the vista install cd?

Ok, i have 2 partitions. C: and D:. I want to do a dual boot so i'll probably have to install vista on my D: drive yea?

my question is, i can get a free express upgrade to vista. Can i use that free express upgrade, save it in D: and have dual boot?

or would i need the actual full vista cd?

answers from vista experienced user will be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

Can i dual boot my XP with the free express upgrade to vista or do i need the vista install cd?
an upgrade version of an os usally requires that the original os be on the drive to be upgraded. you could reload your xp to the other partion, then upgrade it to vista, and that would give you a full dual boot system. keep in mind when you upgrade to vista your boot record is changed and you may have some issues if you lose the vista partition.
Reply:you can use the free express upgrade as long as you have a legit copy of xp that is on your computer at the time of install.. yes, you can set up a dual boot.

Can you assist in my adding a breaker to my Rheem A/C Heat Pump writing box?

Recently, I had a biannual cleaning of my Rheem A/C Heatpump. The guy who came out expressed surprise at the wiring, though he could not make the changes needed without exorbitant charges, he did tell me what needed to be done.

Unfortunately, I was not at home and when I did get home, the instructions he gave me don't seem exactly right.

Here is a photo of the current wiring. The box sits right above the A/C.

http://home.comcast.net/~synchronicity/p...

He explained that there should really be two breakers and that the installers sort of 'cut corners' in installing this, and placing in the second breaker is better. He said that the two white wires in the center needed to have a breaker between them. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how.

If I were to put in a breaker, the breaker is plugged into the power. It would seem to be to be incorrect, then, to place BOTH of those white wires onto the breaker.

I'd appreciate some input on this. Professionals please.

Can you assist in my adding a breaker to my Rheem A/C Heat Pump writing box?
I'm not real sure why he would tell you this.... the box on the outside of your home is actually fed from your main breaker panel on the inside of your home. The breaker you see on the outside is not installed by your AC contractor, but by a Electrical contractor. This box is only used as a disconnect for when you work on the outside unit, this is not used as a source of protection for the condenser unit or the wiring going to it. Also, it is hard to say what these white wires go to without examining the unit, but usually in the electric industry, they are for a neutral and do not require a breaker....hope this helps some.... if you have more information please post.
Reply:Why are there two breakers for one unit? Is it a package all electric unit with the AC/heat pump plus electric heat all outside? If so it is probobly fused at the main panel anyway and the disconnect box in your pic is not big enough for another breaker is it? So they have used the outside disconnect as a junction box as well to tie in the electric heat i would imagine. You can either leave it this way or install a secondary box for the electric heat.

How do I make Outlook Express use my NAS for email storage?

I want to change the storage location of my email from its default location on C: to a folder on my network HD, so I can access the mail from any computer. As It is now, when I select a folder that's on my Buffalo Linkstation to be my storage folder, Outlook Express's "OK" button gets greyed out and won't let me make the change. I use XP Home. Thanks...

How do I make Outlook Express use my NAS for email storage?
well I don't use outlook express and a quick internet search did not bring up anything BUT there is one easy way to kind of do what you want ...........

create a folder on your NAS and then make a rule that copies any incoming email to that folder (so that you have it on your inbox and this additional folder)

of course this now means that you have 2 copies of emails, I am not sure of thats good or bad (good in the sense that if you somehow delete a message you have a backup but bad in that you have to delete from 2 places) you have to decide that.

one other thing you could do is create a shortcut of the directory that has the outlook pst file on your NAS (or just the pst file itself) so that you can see if from any computer

or you could share the folder, so that any orther PC can map to that folder and then see the file

Reply:Have you set the folder as a mapped drive? Some programs won't work with a network path, such as \\computer\folder and will only work with driver letter paths, such as z:\folder.

If XP home supports mapped drives, try using that if you are not already using a mapped drive.

What do you think about working at Express Clothing Store?

Do you work at Express? Do you enjoy it? Do you have to deal with a lot of crazy customers? Is it stressful? Do you get a great discount? I am just learning to put outfits together--the people at express usually help me--do you think I could pick it up from being aroundt he store all the time or do you think I won't be good at this job b/c people would ask me how to put clothes together and I couldn't help them? I am very shy also--do you think this would take me out of my element and force me notn to be shy or do you think I would still be bad at this job? Do you think that they'll hire someone for just about 12 hours a week? (It's something I'd do inbetween classes instead of going home in between classes due to gas).

What do you think about working at Express Clothing Store?
First I suggest that you become more confident in yourself, I do not work for the Express Clothing Store; however they do have great clothes I shop there and I do not know anything about the stress level it may cause, almost everything causes stress just don't become concerned with things you can not control-that will lower your stress level. I also suggest that you purchase some style magazines to get an idea on how to match clothing together if your not a natural. Also watch the new hit reality TV shows they will help also.
Reply:Horrible! I am very fashionable, but working there is a waste of time if you want to make real money. The raises are a joke, and the work is tiring. A lot of folding clothes and reseting displays. And the clothes are cheaply made, jewelry breaks and tarnishes. JMO

I remember this stuff, but I don't remember it enough to answer these questions. :-%26gt; Once I took my Math B Regents a year and a half ago, I forgot everything. Didn't even have to have math senior year. Now, I only recall very basic math, the kindergarten stuff. I am going to refresh myself before starting college in January.

Well, I would say d for #1.

idk for #2

and I say 4 for #3

C#, C++, Fortran...?

I'm a mechanical engineer with very very minimal programming experience, but I am looking into learning to program.

I need to write a few programs to solve complex mathematical equations but am a little confused at which one to use. I went to microsoft.com to take a look at their 'express' programs to download, but am uncertain which one to pick (if any of them).

Fortran has been suggested, but Fortran is so old. Is there anything other programs that might be more suitable with handling complex equations. I would prefer something with a tutorial attached.

C# ??, C++?, anything?

C#, C++, Fortran...?
Most of the traditional engineers I know either use Matlab or Fortran for programming. I think this is mainly because they can both do operations on vectors of numbers rather than having to write loops, which for some reason scares them. Matlab will probably be the fastest way to write your programs, and there are probably lots of tutorials available.

Scientists and physicists generally use Fortran, and they don't use it correctly, but it still works.

If you want a marketable skill, learn C and C++ rather than C#, because you can move to non-Microsoft systems pretty easily.
Reply:If you just want to solve math try Mathcad

http://www.ptc.com/appserver/mkt/product...
Reply:for engineering Fortran IS likely the best choice (old or not) if you choose a C variant go with C#
Reply:Since you are an engineer, I would suggest that you use C++. It is a structured language that has been around for a long while. It will allow you to do exactly what you need with minimal extra coding. (C# is bad about fluff code). Also C++ compliers are far more availible than Fortran, but C++ is also pretty old, like i said.

a) 3h + 4 = 6

c) -7w + 2 = -3

(I am just making sure is the answer w = 0.714?)

d) -4d-3= -1

(Is the answer -0.75?)

e) 5t - 4= 3

(Is the answer t= 1.4)

Solve each equation. Express fraction answers in lowest terms. Check each solution. Am I Right?
Your answers are correct. However, what I think you are doing is using a calculator to do the arithmetic.

For example:

a) 3h + 4 = 6 -4 from both sides

3h = 2 Then divide by 3. You are putting 2/3 into the calculator. Fractionally - the answer is 2/3 (two thirds) or two over three.

Go back through your problems. Rather then putting that last calculation into the calculator, just express it as a fraction.

b) 5k - 3 = -2

5k = 1

k = 1/5

Often times when solving equations - that solution is then put back into another equation. A decimal answer may not help us since often times we round or do other things with the decimal. When solving equations, if the answer doesn't come out "even", leave it in fractional form.
Reply:First, and this is between yourself and your teacher, the problem asked for fractions to be in lowest form, but you answered in decimals. Perhaps, you should rewrite your answer as fractions, such as, a) h = .66 as h = 2/3.

a, b, and c look correct, except as noted above.

d should be -1/2

e looks ok, except as noted above t = 1 2/5
Reply:a) b = 2/3 = .66 (correct!)

b) k = 1/5 = 0.2 (correct!)

c) w = 5/7 ≈ 0.714 (correct!)

d) d = -(2/4) = -(1/2) = -0.5 (CHECK)

Remember, the instructions state that you need to express each fraction in lowest terms. Lets take a closer look:

-4d - 3 = -1

-4d = -1 + 3

-4d = 2

d = -(2/4) ===simplify====%26gt; d = -(1/2) = -0.5 (%26lt;==ANSWER!)

e) t = 7/5 = 1.4 (correct!)

Great job!! I know you're seeing the answers as: "Now, divide one by five" and you punch that into your calculator to get your decimal answer. Think about it. If you say: "Divide one by five", you can write a fraction: 1 divided by 5 ==%26gt; 1 / 5 ==%26gt; 1/5

Hope I helped!

Reply:Q. A:

3h + 4 = 6

1. Place all constants on one side of the equation and all variables on the other side of the equation; variables are the values that change, they have a letter and a coefficient. Constants do not have letters next to them and remain the same, that is why they are called constants.

So ....... 3h + 4 = 6 becomes:

3h = 6 - 4

Notice that when you move a value from one side of the equation to another, the sign chages. In this case, the sign changed fomr positive to negative. This is so that the + 4 can be cancled. 3h = 6 - 4 is the simplified form of writing:

3h + 4 - 4 = 6 - 4

What you do to one side of the equation, you must do to the other. To get the negative 4 on the opposite side of the equation, we have to cancel the positive 4 on the other side. Positive and negative cancel each other, leaving a value of zero. 3h + 0 = 6 - 4 written: 3h = 6 - 4.

2. We can further simplify the expression 3h = 6 - 4 by adding like terms, ie constants with constants and variables with variables. Positive 6 minus 4 -- minus because the 4 is negative -- gives a value of positive 2. The 2 is positive because the larger number is positive. The simplified expression is:

3h = 2

3. We can further simplify the expression by dividing both sides by 3 or multiplying both sides by (1/3). This gives h a coefficient of positive 1, hence the value of h.

(1/3)(3h) = (1/3)(2)

h = 2/3

h = 0.6666666667

h = 0.67 -- 2 sig. figures --

--------------------------------------...

Q. B

5k - 3 = - 2

1. First move all constants to one side of the equation and all variables to the other side of the equation.

5k = - 2 + 3

The sign again changes, but this time from negative to positive. What was done was........

5k - 3 + 3 = - 2 + 3

What you do to one side of the equation you do to the other side of the equation. Positive 3 was added to both sides of the equation, so as to eliminate the negative 3. The simplified expression is:

5k = - 2 + 3

2. Further simplify the expression by adding like terms, ie constants with constants and variables with variables:

5k = 1.

The 1 is positive because the larger number is positive.

3. Further simplification can be done, by dividing both sides by 5 or multiplying by (1/5). This gives k a coefficient of positive 1 and hence the value of k.

(1/5)(5k) = (1)(1/5)

k = 1/5

k = 0.2

--------------------------------------...

Q. C

- 7w + 2 = - 3

1. First put all constants to one side of the equation and all variables on the other side of the equation.

- 7w = - 3 - 2

2. Add like terms ie constants with constants and variables with variables

- 7w = - 5

Note: adding two negative numbers, is like adding two positive numbers, except there is a negative sign infront of the number.

3. Divide both sides of the equation by - 7 or multiply both sides by ( - 1/7) so that w has a new coefficient of positive 1. Note, in this case, we have to multiply or divide by a negative number, so that the variable has a positive coefficient of 1.

( - 1/7)(- 7w) = (- 1/7)(- 5)

w = 5/7

w = 0.7142857143

w = 0.71 -- 2 sig. figures --

Note: a negative multiplied by a negative gives a positive

----------------------------------

Q. D -- TT_TT sry hun, but I think you got this one wrong ! --

- 4d - 3 = - 1

1. Place all constants on one side of the equation and all variables on the other side of the equation.

- 4d = - 1 + 3

2. Add like terms, ie constants with constants and variables with variables.

- 4d = 2

3. Divide both sides of the equation by negative 4 of multiply both sides of the equation by negative (1/4); the negative sign will cancel out the negative sign, and make the new coefficient of d, positive 1, giving the value of d.

( - 1/4)(- 4d) = (- 1/4)(2)

d = - 2/4

d = - 1/2

d = - 0.5

--------------------------------------...

Q. E

5t - 4 = 3

1. Place all constants to one side of the equation and all variables on the other side of the equation.

5t = 3 + 4

2. Add like terms, ie constants with constants and variables with variables.

5t = 7

3. Divide both sides of the equation by positive 5 or multiply both sides by positive (1/5). This gives t a new coefficient of positive 1, hence the value of t.

(1/5)(5t) = (7)(1/5)

t = 7/5

t = 1.4

--------------------------------

PROOF:

To ensure that you have the correct answers, you can subsitute the values into the equations:

Example:

Using the first expression: 3h + 4 = 6,

and the value of h as 2/3 or 0.67

Subsitute 2/3 for h

3h + 4 = 6

3(2/3) + 4 = 6 -- 3's cancel --

2 + 4 = 6

6 = 6

The answer is correct ! you can do these for the other values, to ensure that they are correct

There are no limitations on what you can do with the express edition. The major differences are that the express edition IDE lacks some features that the professional edition has, they both produce the same code though.

Heterozygous Cc Chickens express a condition called creeper?

Heterozygous Cc Chickens express a condition called creeper, in which the leg and wing bones are shorter than normal (cc). The dominant C allele is lethal when homozygous. Two alleles of a independently segregating gene determine white (W-) versus yellow (ww) skin color. From matings between chickens heterozygous for both of these genes, what phenotypic classes will be represented among the viable progeny, and what are their expected relative frequencies?

Heterozygous Cc Chickens express a condition called creeper?
6 whithe creepers

2 yellow creepers

1 yellow non creeper

3 white non creepers

2. short (**b(void))(int);

3. long *(*(*c(void))(int))[6];

4. char *(**d)(void);

5. double *(*(*(*e)(void))[5])(void);

How will you express the following expressions?
i believe those are function pointers, so #1 would be

float a(*void[6])

(a function named 'a' that takes a pointer to an array with six elements, and it returns a float.)

that's my guess, and i'm stickin to it!

(a) Express the second law of thermodynamics as a mathematical equation. (Select all that apply.)?
There are several ways to express the second law of thermo. I think what you are looking for is

S (surround)+S(process) =/%26gt; 0 for any process.

In (a): in a reversible process, S universe=0

The others should be straight-forward from the above.
Reply:a.) First, when you say "Suniverse", I thinkyou mean the change in the entropy of the universe. I will call this deltaSuniverse.

For a reversible process, deltaSuniverse = 0, so the first answer is NOT correct.

For a spontaneous process, deltaSuniverse %26gt; 0, so the second answer is NOT correct.

For a reversible process, deltaSuniverse = 0, so the 3rd answer is NOT correct.

For a spontaneous process, deltaSuniverse %26gt; 0, so the 4th answer IS correct.

For a spontaneous process, deltaSuniverse %26gt; 0, so the 5th answer is NOT correct.

For a reversible process, deltaSuniverse = 0, so the 6th answer IS correct.

b.) For a spontaneous process, deltaSuniverse %26gt; 0. But, deltaSuniverse = deltaSsystem + deltaSsurroundings. Since deltaSsystem %26lt; 0 in this process we can conclude that deltaSsurroundings %26gt;0 and /deltaSsurroundings/ %26gt; /deltaSsystem / . Answers 1 and 4 are correct, assuming our symbols are related by: Ssurr = deltaSsurroundings and Ssys = deltaSsystem

c.) For a reversible process, deltaSuniverse = 0

I assume you mean deltaSsystem = -67 J/K.

deltaSuniverse = deltaSsystem + deltaSsurroundings.

Therefore, we can conclude that deltaSsurroundings = +67 J/K.

An express bus travels directly from A-town to B-ville. A local bus also links these two towns, but it....?
a)

Find N - S and E - W separately:

A ------%26gt; B (N - S):

-30 + 30cos45 = -8.7868km

A ------%26gt; B(E - W):

-30 - 12 +30sin45 = -20.7868km

Use the Pythagorean theorem:

D = √[(-8.7868)^2 + (-20.7868)^2] = 22.5677KM

Average velocity = Displacement/total time

V(express) = 22.5677/.45 = 50.15km/hr

V(local) = 22.5677/3.0 = 7.523km/hr

Keep plugging and don't sell yourself short.

Can someone help me with C?

I am looking to learn C, to build a toy operating system.

My issue is that I learned C/C++ basics when the MS Visual version was 6.0.

Now I have the vc express 2008, and to start a simple program there seems to be a lot of standard code that never use to be there.

Do I need all of this? I am using an older book on C that doesn't use all of this new code and libraries.

Did C advance that much in 8 years? or

Is this .net? I didn't see anything saying that this version is .net, but I could be wrong.

Express the followings as a single logarithm: (a) 3log a x + 2log a y - 1/4log a z?

Express the followings as a single logarithm:

(a) 3log a x + 2log a y - 1/4log a z

(b) 1/3log a w - 3log a x - 5log a y

(c) 7(4log a m + 1/3log a n)

Express the followings as a single logarithm: (a) 3log a x + 2log a y - 1/4log a z?
(a) 3log a x + 2log a y - 1/4log a z

=log_a (x^3) + log_a (y^2) - log_a (z^[1/4}

= log_a ( x^3 y^2 /z^{1/4} )

(b) 1/3log a w - 3log a x - 5log a y

= log_a (w^{1/3}) - log_a (x^3) - log_a (y^5)

= log_a ( w^{1/3} /x^3 y^5)

(c) 7(4log a m + 1/3log a n) = log_a (m^28 n^ 7/3)
Reply:(a) 3log a x + 2log a y - 1/4 log a z

the numbers in front of log become exponents so:

log a x^3 + log a y^2 - log a z^(1/4)

adding logs is multiplying the insides so:

log a (x^3)(y^2) - log a z^(1/4)

subtracting logs is like dividing so:

log a [(x^3)(y^2)]/(z^(1/4))

(b) 1/3log a w - 3log a x - 5log a y

log a w^(1/3) - log a x^3 - log a y^5

log a (w^(1/3))/(x^3) - log a y^5

log a [(w^(1/3))/(x^3)]/(y^5)

(c) 7(4log a m + 1/3log a n)

Parentheses first (whatever inside you do first):

7(log a m^4+ log a n^(1/3))

7(log a (m^4)(n^(1/3))

7log a (m^4)(n^(1/3)) or log a [(m^4)(n^(1/3))]^7

How to connect sql server 2005 express with vb 2005 express?

Hi there, I'm having trouble when connecting the database as i get the error "unable to open the physical file 'C:\Program FIles\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\datB... system error 32:'32(the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.)'An attempt to attch an auto-named database for file C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data\datB... failed.A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot open or it is located on UNC share,"

Im using Windows Authentication and data source(MS SQL Server Database File(SqlClient)

The configuration to allow remote connection has also been done.Im not sure what the problem is.

Btw, Im creating the database using sql server 2005 express

Pls help me on this. Thanks folks!

How to connect sql server 2005 express with vb 2005 express?
This problem happens when one of three things are true:

1. The file is locked by another program, such as the Management Studio console;

2. You have modified the file by uploading it, moving it, renaming it or otherwise having the file system lock the file.

3. You are not using a proper connection string.

It looks to me like you have problem 3; specifically, you are probably using the AttachDataBase parameter in your connection string, which is a bad idea in most cases.

Assuming you are using SqlClient, as you stated, your connection string for a SqlClient connection would be like:

Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS; Database=Northwind; Integrated Security=True

Please note that you must authenticate as MACHINE\ASPNET, where MACHINE is the name of the server and ASPNET is the name of the ASP.NET worker process (usually aspnet_wp), if you are going to use Windows integrated authentication with your database and you are running an anonymous Web site (that is, you are not using Windows authentication on your site).

If you are using Windows authentication on your site, then every person who logs in to your Web site must have the requisite permissions to access the database resources you use.

Which is why creating a SQL user for your application makes far more sense.

Let's suppose you create a SQL user MYUSER with a password MYPASS. In that case, your connection string becomes:

Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS; Database=Northwind; User ID=MYUSER; Password=MYPASS;

And that way, you don't have to worry about granting database permissions to every authenticated user, or worse, to the lowly ASP.NET worker process, which by design is normally underprivileged to make life a lot harder on hackers.
Reply:I would suggest changing from Windows authentication, and using SQL authentication. I have never seen anyone successfully utilize the Windows authentication, and it always seems to create problems. To do so, you will have to set up a user account on the SQL Server, and make sure you use the same user name and password for it, and the the connection. Good luck, and please let me know if that doesn't work - I am emailable through YA. Good luck : )

Express the following concentrations?

express the following concentrations of elements and compounds as milligrams per liter of CaCO3

a. 95mg/L Ca2+

b. 87 mg/L Mg2+

c. 125mg/L Na+

i tried it and figured out 50g/eq of CaCO3 but I am confused what to do next

Express the following concentrations?
This is common in water treatment chemistry, and you should be able to search and find a chart which gives you the multipliers used to convert mg/l to mg/l as CaCO3 equivalents.

The answers are:

a. 95 mg/l Ca = 95* 2.5 = 237.5 mg/l as CaCO3

b. 87 mg/l Mg = 87*4.12 = 358.4 mg/l as CaCO3

c. 125 mg/l Na = 125*2.18 = 272.5 mg/l as CaCO3

Express the function:in words.?

a. Subtract 2, then take the square root

b. Divide by 3, then subtract 2

c. Divide by 3, then square

d. Divide by 3, subtract 2, then take the square root`

e. Divide by 3, take the square root, then subtract 2

Express the function:in words.?
d.

first off, you do anything in perentheses first.

follow PEMDAS, also known as the order of operations.

P = perentheses

E = exponent

M = multplication

D = division

A = addition

S = subtraction

multiplication/division can be interchangeable, as can addition and subtraction.

you can't go wrong :)
Reply:Hi,

I'm not sure what you want here. It seems that you want just the opposite of what you asked.

I would guess that the answers would be the following:

a: f(x) = sqrt(x - 2)

b: f(x) = (x - 3) / 2

c: f(x) = (x / 3)²

d: f(x) = sqrt((x / 3) - 2)

e: f(x) = sqrt(x / 3) - 2

Express the answer in feet per second?

A carousel has a radius of 17 feet and takes 28 seconds to make one complete revolution. What is the linear speed of the carousel at its outside edge? Express the answer in feet per second. If neccessary, round the answer to two decimal places.

a. 106.81

b. 10.35

c. 0.61

d. 3.81

Express the answer in feet per second?
d.

Calculate the perimeter of the carousel on its edge. 2 * pi * r = 2*pi*(17) = 106.81 ft

Now you know that it made 106.81 ft for only 28 seconds. Divide 106.81/28 seconds to get the number of feet you can go per second.

Which gives you 3.81.
Reply:Circumference = 2πr

c = 2*3.1416*17

c = 106.81 ft

106.81ft / 28sec = 3.81 ft/sec

So d. is the correct answer.

.
Reply:complete revolution is 2Pi R

= 2(3.14)(17) = 106.76 ft

linear speed = 106.76/28 = 3.81 ft/s

answer is d
Reply:d
Reply:d is correct:

Circumference=pi*diameter

C=pi*2*17

C=106.814ft

v=C/t

v=106.814ft/28s

v=3.81ft/s

Express quadratic function:?

Express the quadratic function f(x) = - x ^2 + 4x - 12 in standard

form.

a. -(x - 2) ^2 - 8

b. -(x + 2)^2 - 14

c. (x + 2) ^2 + 12

d. -(x - 4) ^2 - 2

e. (x - 4) ^2 - 24

Express quadratic function:?
The way to figure the answer out is to expand each of the functions listed. For a.),

-(x - 2)^2 - 8

= -(x^2 - 4x + 4) - 8

= -x^2 + 4x - 4 - 8

= -x^2 + 4x - 12.

The key here is being able to expand each of the functions. If you know how to do that, you'll be in good shape for any other questions like this. :)
Reply:- x^2 + 4x - 12

-(x^2 - 4x) - 12

-(x^2 - 4x + 4) - 12 - (-4)

-(x - 2)^2 - 8

A
Reply:The answer is a., i.e., -(x-2)^2-8
Reply:a.
Reply:f(x)=-x^2+4x-12

=-{(x^2-4x+2^2)+12-2^2}

=-{(x-2)^2+12-4}

=-{(x-2)^2+8}
