Help with a few maths questions?

These questions may seem easy to a lot of you but I am always getting F's. So if you could help me with the qns, it'll be a great help!

a] Simplify the fraction (y + 12/y - 7) / (y - 4/y - 3)

b] given that the sq root of 2p + q / p - 2q = 9/4, find the ratio of p:q

c] Express 3x + 1 + 2/x-5 = 6 as a quadratic equation in the form ax² + bx + c = 0

Hence, find the value of x, correct to 2 decimal places

I've tried the questions but can't find a solution D:
