express the following concentrations of elements and compounds as milligrams per liter of CaCO3
a. 95mg/L Ca2+
b. 87 mg/L Mg2+
c. 125mg/L Na+
i tried it and figured out 50g/eq of CaCO3 but I am confused what to do next
Express the following concentrations?
This is common in water treatment chemistry, and you should be able to search and find a chart which gives you the multipliers used to convert mg/l to mg/l as CaCO3 equivalents.
The answers are:
a. 95 mg/l Ca = 95* 2.5 = 237.5 mg/l as CaCO3
b. 87 mg/l Mg = 87*4.12 = 358.4 mg/l as CaCO3
c. 125 mg/l Na = 125*2.18 = 272.5 mg/l as CaCO3
