plz shw all d steps.....thz =p
Can any1 help me to express (2+surd2)/(3-surd2) in d form a+b surd c ????
Hi,
2 + √2
---------
3 - √2
Multiply top and bottom by denominator's conjugate, 3 + √2.
(2 + √2)(3 + √2)
---------------------- =
(3 - √2)(3 + √2)
6 + 2√2 + 3√2 + √4
--------------------------- =
9 + 3√2 - 3√2 - √4
6 + 2√2 + 3√2 + 2
--------------------------- =
9 + 3√2 - 3√2 - 2
8 + 5√2
----------- %26lt;== ANSWER
.....7
8.......5√2
---.+.-------- %26lt;== ANSWER in a + b√c form
7.......7
I hope that helps!! :-)
Reply:(2+surd2)/(3-surd2)
= (2 + √2)/(3 - √2)
Multiply by in above (3 + √2)/(3 + √2)
= {(2 + √2)/(3 - √2)} x {(3 + √2)/(3 + √2)}
= (2 + √2)(3 + √2)/(3 - √2)(3 + √2)
= (6 + 2√2 + 3√2 + √4)/(9 + 3√2 - 3√2 - √4)
= (6 + 2√2 + 3√2 + 2)/(9 - 2)
= (8 + 5√2)/7
= (8/7) + (5√2)/7
